About
A compiled language built around a native backend
RUDRA is a statically typed, compiled systems language. Its defining trait is a native backend: the compiler turns a single source file into a native executable directly.
Philosophy
RUDRA aims to be easy to read, predictable to compile, and honest about its scope. The language favors a small, well-defined surface over a long list of partially working features. Capabilities are added when they can be compiled, run and verified.
Design goals
- Readable syntax. Familiar function, binding and control-flow forms.
- Static type checking. Type errors are caught before a program runs.
- Memory-safety orientation. The language is designed around safe access patterns.
- A native backend. Source compiles to a native executable.
- Honest scope. Documented capabilities match what the shipped toolchain does.
The ecosystem
Around the language sits a toolchain: a driver, a compiler, a package tool and a language server, plus planned components such as a graphical IDE. Each is presented independently on the Ecosystem page with an accurate status so that experimental and planned work is never presented as production ready.
Two toolchains, one language
The publicly distributed toolchain binaries are dynamically linked executables. The project also has a separate self-hosting research compiler that is not part of this public distribution. This site only makes claims about the distributed release. See Transparency for details.
