FAQ

Honest answers to common questions.

What is RUDRA?

A compiled, statically typed systems language with a native backend. The compiler turns a source file into a native executable.

Which platforms are supported?

The current 1.1.0 toolchain targets Linux x86_64. macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows installers are available from the 1.0.1 release. See Downloads.

Are the distributed binaries dependency-free?

No. The distributed toolchain binaries are dynamically linked executables. The project separately maintains a self-hosting research compiler that is not part of this public distribution; this site makes claims only about the distributed release.

Does RUDRA support threads, channels and HTTP?

OS threads via spawn are verified. Channels (chan_new, chan_send, chan_recv) and a mutex are present and partially verified. http_get opens real TCP connections but requires a numeric IP (no DNS) and does not do TLS. See Transparency for exact statuses.

Is there a package registry?

The ruxpkg tool uses a local registry. No public package directory is published on this site, and no third-party packages are listed unless real and verified.

What is the license?

The RUDRA License: binaries are free to use, including commercially, while the compiler source is proprietary. The programs you build are yours. See the repository LICENSE file.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Use the GitHub Issues tracker for bugs and GitHub Discussions for proposals. See Developer Hub and Community.
