Features and capabilities

A precise, honest account of what RUDRA does today. Each capability is labeled with a verification status; the evidence behind each is on the Transparency page.

VERIFIED

Compile and run a program

The shipped v1.1.0 compiler builds a .rux source file into a native Linux binary and runs it.

rudrac <file.rux> [--run] [-o name]

VERIFIED

OS threads

spawn runs a function on a real operating-system thread.

spawn(fn, arg)

VERIFIED

Mutex

A mutex with lock and unlock provides real mutual exclusion over a shared resource across two threads, with no deadlock.

mutex_new(); lock(m); unlock(m)

PARTIALLY VERIFIED

Channels

Message-passing channels exist. The working functions are chan_new, chan_send and chan_recv. A send immediately followed by a receive works, but multiple queued sends before a receive are not preserved reliably.

chan_new(); chan_send(c, v); chan_recv(c)

VERIFIED

HTTP client (http_get, numeric IP)

http_get performs a complete HTTP/1.x request and returns the full response for a numeric IP address. It does not resolve hostnames (no DNS) and does not implement HTTPS/TLS; those are tracked separately below.

http_get(url)

PARTIALLY VERIFIED

JSON reading

JSON object reading works via json_get. A function named json_parse does not exist in the shipped binary.

json_get(jsonText, key)

NOT VERIFIED

Hostname resolution (DNS)

DNS / hostname resolution is documented as roadmap and was not observed.

PLANNED

HTTPS / TLS

Secure transport is documented as roadmap and is not present in the shipped client.

Honest scope

The distributed toolchain binaries are dynamically linked. RUDRA does not claim universal platform support or dependency-free binaries for the distributed artifacts. Hostname resolution (DNS) and HTTPS/TLS are not implemented in the shipped release.
